This car was built as a steam railroad day coach. It is of composite construction, meaning a steel under frame, truss rods and a steel substructure, working with wood to frame the car. The interior and exterior were wood. In mid-1929 the Reading began replacing these cars with all-steel cars. This car was sold to the Mississippian Railway. During World War II, it returned north to the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway. With the end of passenger service on that line, the car went into company service until 1964. It was used in a work train for maintaining the line. The interior was gutted for this last use. We acquired the 1088 to be adaptively reused as a display car.
