Media Mornings

Step aboard and spark a love for history at the Northern Ohio Railway Museum. From the wide-eyed wonder of toddler story times to the nostalgic depth of our adult media mornings, our programs bring Ohio’s electric railway legacy to life for every generation. We combine hands-on exploration with unforgettable experiences tailored for schools, families, and lifelong learners alike. Whether you’re a local student or a history enthusiast, climbing aboard our century-old streetcars in Seville is the perfect way to ignite your passion for the past

On-Site Learning Experiences

  • Streetcar Rides and Tours: Your museum ticket is a passport to history. Hop on a historic streetcar and let our conductors share tales of Ohio’s electric railways. Our docent-guided tours showcase equipment from 1895 through 1970.
  • Homeschool Field Trips: We offer specialized visits for homeschool co-ops and activity groups. Groups of 30 or more can schedule private guided tours of our collection in Seville. Visit our Homeschool Group page for more information or to start the scheduling process.
  • Story Time at NORM: Designed for our youngest visitors, this program introduces children to history through guided readings set among the streetcars. Museum educators connect story themes like power and teamwork to our historic equipment. These sessions encourage early STEAM learning for families across Northeast Ohio.
  • Scout Programs: We help local scout groups earn the BSA Railroading Merit Badge. Along with aligned activities, we also offer railroad safety presentations for troops in the Medina area.

Educational Resources and Activities

  • Education Center: A variety of coloring sheets and activity packets for children are available on site. These resources help students engage with the technical history during and after their visit.
  • Virtual Learning: Follow our Trolley Tales series on Facebook for posts on local railway history. We provide activities and answers to common questions about electric traction.

Rail Safety & Community Programs

  • Operation Lifesaver: Our authorized volunteers provide safety presentations for schools, scouts, and adult groups in Northeast Ohio. Contact the museum for availability information.
  • Media Mornings: These free public events feature trolley and transit-themed presentations at Hinckley Township Hall. Join us on select Saturdays in March, May, August, November, and December. Doors open at 9:30 AM for these community gatherings.
  • Community Presentations: We provide presentations about the museum and electric railroading for civic and other organizations.
