Homeschool Train Rides & Field Trips in Seville
The Northern Ohio Railway Museum welcomes homeschool groups for both public and private visits centered around our historic electric railway collection and streetcar rides.
Groups of 30 or more can book private guided visits on exclusive dates, even when the museum is closed to the general public. Smaller groups can arrange a guided field trip during regular operating hours and enjoy many of the same hands-on experiences. Whatever your group size, we can help you plan a visit that gives students an opportunity to explore the technology, history, and people behind Ohio’s electric railways.
Learning for Students, Parents, and Grandparents
A homeschool field trip can be a learning experience for the whole family. Students, parents, and grandparents can explore the museum together, and everyone counts toward the group total for private visits. Discounted adult admission makes it possible for the whole family to take part.
Meet the Experts
Our field trips give students the opportunity to meet the people who care for and operate our historic railway equipment. Students can talk with conservationists about the craft of restoring vintage equipment, speak with operating crews about the systems that make electric railways work, and learn from our educators about the history and science behind the collection.
These conversations give students a chance to ask questions and see how the history they are studying connects to real equipment and the people who preserve it.
Trolley Ride
A ride aboard one of our historic streetcars is an important part of the homeschool experience. Students can hear the hum of the electric motors, feel the movement of the car on the tracks, and experience the sounds of a working electric railway.
For students who have spent the day exploring the collection, the ride provides an opportunity to experience the technology they have been learning about.
