A Trackmobile can operate on both railroads and roads. The rubber tires can be lowered to lift it off the rails. This makes it very versatile for switching rail cars around grain elevators, industrial plants and other locations that need to economically move rail cars around. Cleveland RTA has a Trackmobile to move rapid cars around the Central Rail facility. To gain tractive effort, the hydraulic shelf coupler raises the coupled car slightly. This transfers some extra weight to the Trackmobile’s wheels. This helps prevent the wheels from slipping. Our Trackmobile is powered by a Detroit Diesel engine.
